I’ve got a face for radio
Beat that for search-engine-friendly titling!
Ahem.
Anyway, it’s always really lovely to be asked to come and do nice stuff by nice people whose nice music you put on mixtapes for your boyfriend (guilty). Today I went and giggled all over the microphone at a live recording of the super-beardy 2 Bears‘ radio show on Ministry of Sound Radio about my blog and what to do this Bank Holiday weekend.
Yes, MoS have radio shows from all the trancey housey heads in their diamante aviators that you’d expect, but they also have some wicked musical delights from the likes of Girlcore, Greenmoney, D&B titans Hospital and, of course, the lovely bear-y boys, Joe Goddard (he of Hot Chip and of delicious solo album ‘Harvest Time’. I want to lick the Fourtet remix of his ‘Apple Bobbing’ track all over) and Raf Rundell (the knowledge at 1956 Records and Greco-Roman Soundsystem deck-destroyer).
Together they make globetrotting, eclectic and gloriously squelchy dance beats that sound rather like this:
Who says bears can’t make house music, indeed?
And so, this afternoon, I was Goldielocks (ho ho ho…) sweatily sandwiched between the 2 Bears and honorary third bear Nathan Detroit, premier Tshirt collector and the knowledge at Southern Fried Records, 2Bears’ label. Terrible joke, but plenty of fun in the studio!
Thanks for having me guys, it’s a really great show. You can hear it every week here.
As for me, I’m now available to blurt out “Pussy Control” and incorrectly pronounce Queen Latifah on any radio show that’ll have me – and also to sing it in your karaoke room/wedding disco/Bar Mitzvah.
I’m imagining that it would go something like this:
A darn fine piece of falsetto, non? Just perhaps without the terrible scratching…
